Orson’s Wine Tip Tuesday: Purchasing Wine Directly from a Winery

This is part of our Wine Tip Tuesday series. These are tips directly from me, Orson Hall (owner of Wine Tours by Design), based on what I have learned both living in California and spending my life immersed in the wine industry.

If you purchase wine from a winery (direct-to-consumer), do it during the spring and fall. If you purchase during the other two seasons, you are taking a risk that either the wine will be too cold and the corks might pop or that the wine will roast in the heat. Shippers state that they have refrigerated units but do you want to take the chance that the wine stays refrigerated or not too hot on its journey to your doorstep?
