Orson’s Wine Tip Tuesday: Purchasing Wine While Running Errands

This is part of our Wine Tip Tuesday series. These are tips directly from me, Orson Hall (owner of Wine Tours by Design), based on what I have learned both living in California and spending my life immersed in the wine industry.

When you plan to purchase wine while running errands, make it your last stop. The ambient temperature in your car can rise 40 degrees in 1 hour during most months of the year. Heat over 70 degrees can begin to ruin wine. And wine isn’t cheap. When purchasing wine isn’t my last stop, I carry a cooler in my car and add a frozen cold pack I keep in my freezer. This is the same thing many people do with all perishables they purchase while out at the store.
